Camphill Special Schools

('61, PA) 160 residents

A residential children's village, centered around a private school for children with mental retardation and other secondary disabilities. These children become part of an extended family, sharing a home life with Camphill staff and their children. The core philosophy, based on the Anthroposophical teachings of Rudolf Steiner, emphasizes family, festivals, Biodynamic agriculture, and the exploration of the realm of childhood--including therapy programs that reinforce and enrich the unfolding capacities of the special children.
